GUMMIHZ

New greek on the block? Not the case for Alexander Tsotsos aka Gummihz. Since 2006, he's been steadily serving his unique mixture of house and techno through imprints like Mobilee records, Treibstoff and more recently Earthrumental music. As a musically active teenager, Alex was fascinated with producing music since an early age. After a few years of classic guitar training and a couple of teenage garage bands, he was introduced to djing which instantly became his passion. Its been nearly 16 years since and now GummiHz is performing his diverse fusion of contemporary dance music for audiences worldwide. From north and south America to Japan and Europe, GummiHz has performed in clubs like the legendary The End in London, Sullivan Room in New York, Cocoon in Frankfurt, Priviledge in Ibiza and Watergate in Berlin, his city of residence.

A witness of the electronic music explosion during the mid nineties in England, Alex has spent many nights getting educated in the city's clubs and underground parties. During the latter part of the 10 years he lived in London, Alex started making his own parties in underground locations and was a regular at events like the infamous multivitamins parties in Shoreditch. Drawing inspiration from different styles such as early NY house from the likes of Dj Pierre, Afrohead, Junior Vasquez to using elements from the width and breadth of the musical genres' spectrum, in his productions. His records have been acknowledged by all popular djs in the dance music scene worldwide. While gaining reviews and articles on publications in the likes of Groove magazine (DE), Wire magazine (US), Mixmag(UK) to name a few. Some of his productions have been licenced by djs like Danny Tenagia, Tiefschwarz, Derrick May and even John Digweed for mixed compilations on labels such as Fabric and Tommy Boy.

With a name standing for elastic frequencies, Alex's aim is to deliver tracks for the dancefloor through various production methods and on different styles ranging mainly between tech house and techno. After records like "Basic Elements vol.1" (Real Tone/2010)"Select and bounce" (Mobilee/2006), "Mind games" (Mobilee/2007), "Under the Sun" (Mobilee/2008), "High on percussion" (Earthrumental/2009) and a mix compilation for Mobilee's back to back series, GummiHz has offered his remixes for artists such as Anja Schneider (Mobilee records), Jerome Sydenham (Ibadan) and Ekkohaus (20/20 Vision, Morris Audio) amongst others. In 2009, Alex released his debut album titled "Sleepless nights", on Anja Schneider's Mobilee records. A serious step in establishing him as an important figure in the contemporary dance music community. More recently Alex founded his own label Claap in need of a platform to express freely his vision of modern dance music.

GummiHz is very commited to his craft and preserves a serious professional profile. Mainly focused on expression through developing his productions and reaching out to audiences through his passionate and dynamic dj performances.

NIKOLA GALA

Part of the exciting wave of Greek talents coming up in house and techno over the last decade, Nikola Gala is a prolific producer whose impeccably produced tracks have become big releases for Ibadan Records, Rekids, Freerange Records and Plastic City; all labels which represent true quality in the world of underground dance music. Armed with little more than a mixtape of random techno tunes and the first two albums of The Prodigy as a teenager, Nikola Gala embarked on his musical journey which has lasted over 15 years. Producing since 1995, DJ since 2000, Gala founded his own record label called Escada Music, has traveled with his music around to the world serenading dancefloors in Tokyo, London, Madrid, Moscow and Stockholm, and impressed even the most hardened dance music journalist and critic with his clever productions, and a comprehension of sound that knows no borders.

Nikola's musical output and DJ style has evolved and reinvented itself many times over the years, always incorporating fresh new elements while remaining relevant and interesting. In fact, after a perusal of Nikolas back catalog, one might wonder if there's something he isn't capable of producing! Nikolas first records of progressive house music were released on the most spotlight labels of the genre including Armada, Lost Language, Rennaisance, Intrinsic and Audio Therapy. In 2005 after switching to a more sophisticated, deep house style, Nikola was gaining attention for making rich tracks with a sharp tech edge, like "Everything Is You" on Stripped Records. "What helps me most in developing my sound" Nikola explains, "is the music scene itself. There are so many good producers releasing amazing material week by week, it's what pushes me to explore new sounds." This is precisely what he did in 2008 after dancing all night long to Âme. Nikola came home and wrote Kilo Tango the EP that would signify a major turning point in his career. Techno producer Jerome Sydenham would release Kilo Tango on his renowned label Ibadan, and later commission Nikola for yet another release. "Beyond Nikola's diverse creative talents", remarks Sydenham, "I really appreciate his inner balance as an individual and wish him only the best."

Since then, more excellent releases under Nikolas belt and a relocation to Berlin have only encouraged and fostered his promising career. Consider the passionate vibes of the track "Broken Chords" on Freerange, or the experimental ethno-mesmeric collaborations with Claap Records founder and good friend, GummiHz. Nikola is especially proud of his releases for Rekids - regarded by many as one of the leading record labels in the entire underground scene. Nikola acknowledges the move to Berlin has influenced his sound, but is quick to reassure us of another constant characteristic of his music: "I like to play energetic music with an uplifting character, even if I play deep or tech-house beats. People are going to clubs to have a good time and enjoy themselves, so bringing a smile to peoples faces is priority number one for me." Armed with undeniable talent, imagination and the gift of soulful expression, we can only imagine what the future holds for Nikola.

SQUARE ROOM HEROES

“Square Room Heroes” is a project conceptualized in 2011 between George Boronas and George Delkos as their take on a sound that reflects the “Universal Club Mood” as they call it! A project to host their combined as well as individual productions. After years of experience in producing and djing the guys realized that they share a similar vision and passion for dance music. Its an effort of sharing various moments fueling from many club experiences, within Greece as well as other countries. In their own words: “The concept behind SRH is to extend our horizons and to give to those who know, understand and feel the underground club culture, and get in the tunnel of electronic
underground dance music.”

Square Room Heroes are here to introduce a sound that past away, which nowadays some people don’t even know about. As trends come and go SRH create their own sound which roots well back in the early days of house, while being more recent than ever. Enjoy hula hooping to the music!

George Boronas biography:

George Boronas begun his dj career during the mid 90’s in Thessaloniki, Greece. Early influences came from his parents record collection. Bands and artists like the Doors, Pet Shop Boys, Jean Michel Jarre and many many others. According to his parents, since the age of 7 George would spend hours sitting in front of a monitor-speaker and change records so that he could get a taste of as many music styles of those days possible! Some piano and guitar lessons where enough to make him realize his love for music and made him want to be a part of all that. A few years later George started to collect vinyl which ignited his passion to use these records to create a mood in a club. Soon after, at the age of 16, he got the chance to start his dj career as he started playing his first parties. At the time George was mixing break beat, jungle and intelligent drum n’ bass Style, influenced from London’s music culture and artists like Goldie, LTJ Bukem , Suburban Base and the Moving Shadow crew. He also experimented in scratching and learning hip-hop techniques from respected artists like DJ Kid Stretch (national winner of the 1998 DMC competion in Greece), to combine various technques in his dj sets.

Soon he changed his musical taste and moved into deep house, house, tech-house and techno with influences that came from USA’s 90’s house and techno scene, as well as house from the UK. More especially Detroit, Chicago and New York. Artists like Jeff Mills, DJ Sneak, Todd Terry, Terry Francis amongst many others. Then followed the French house explosion which kept clubbers buzzing and, of course, George too! His top mixing skills and unique collection of records gained him a very good reputation in the Greek underground music circuit, and also brought him regular dj appearances in parties and events in various venues within Greece as well as other countries. A short while later George had residencies in various clubs in his hometown of Thessaloniki and was also organising nights with Pale Penguin. Together they planned parties hosting guest DJs, live musicians and local heroes who supported the events with live instruments like sax, guitars, keyboards and percussion. These events gained a cult status in their country and where coverred by very popular publications, as well as radio and TV shows.

More recently, he has compiled and mixed 2 quality tech-house CDs for Freeze Magazine (Greece) and had his first studio sessions for producing dance music. Until now he has played alongside artists like Wareika, Loco Dice, Martin Buttrich, Aril Brikha and has offered some memorable nights in Thessaloniki’s club scene. Since the last few years he also holds a long running residency in his hometown under the “Saturday Night Fever “ events. While visiting Hamburg and Berlin often to dj and develop his sound working with friends who he loves more than dearly. George remains focused in djing and producing more music to make more audiences sweat on the dancefloor!
